Eating Disorder-Related Personality/Emotional Issues

  • Do you have difficulty setting boundaries with others, being assertive, standing up for yourself, or saying no? Do you choose to withdraw rather than "disappoint"?

  • Do you have difficulty knowing what you want, having needs, and asking for help?
  • Are you perfectionistic and intolerant of "mistakes"?
  • Do you struggle with low self-esteem, feelings of worthlessness/that you don't matter?
  • Do you compare yourself to others and feel you have to be better or you're no good at all?
  • Do you feel out of control, chaotic, and unbalanced in daily life?
  • Do you experience mood swings, depression, fatigue, irritability, and frequent anxiety, or feel numb/empty?
  • Do you fantasize that if you got to the perfect weight (and could maintain it), life would be perfect?
  • Are you an "extremist," struggling with moderation and balance: obsessively busy, then drained and unable to act; wildly excited then deeply depressed?
  • Do you minimize or deny your feelings, dismissing emotions such as anger with excuses like being tired or stressed, avoiding dealing with issues at hand?
